how does a poem know when to fly, or where

On Twitter the other day, Molly Hogan (@mbhmaine) posed a challenge:

So here is a partial answer...

*    *    *    *    *

how does a poem know when to fly, or where

released         arrow

the leaf waits

inside the bud

coyotes

yelp for joy

under the Milky Way

returning

through the woods

a whiff of woodsmoke

in the still starlight

by accident

we see

two planets kiss

fire cracks

open the chestnuts

accept     gifts

  3. "accept gifts"
Because they can be found everywhere if we look closely.

    1. Yes! They can. They are everywhere. Maybe poetry is like radio, it's the receiver that finds the signal, not the other way around.
